Sparrow ("we," "our," or "us") operates sparrowvp.com (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our wedding planning platform.

By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you register, we collect:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Password (stored encrypted)
  • Role (couple, vendor, or planner)

1.2 Wedding & Event Details (Couples)

  • Event date, type, and location
  • Guest count
  • Vendor preferences and notes
  • Budget information

1.3 Business Information (Vendors)

  • Company name and website
  • Service area
  • Years of experience
  • Portfolio links
  • General liability insurance information
  • Referral source

1.4 Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details on our servers. Stripe handles all payment processing and storage in accordance with PCI-DSS standards. We store only your Stripe customer ID for subscription management.

1.5 Uploaded Files & Media

Files you upload (profile photos, portfolio images, contract documents, etc.) are stored on Amazon S3. We store the file URL and metadata (filename, size, type) in our database.

1.6 Communications

Messages sent through the Platform between users (couples, planners, vendors) are stored in our database to provide the messaging service.

1.7 Usage Data

We may collect:

  • Pages visited and features used
  • Device type and browser
  • IP address
  • Session timestamps

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Provide wedding planning tools and features
  • Process subscription payments via Stripe
  • Enable communication between couples, planners, and vendors
  • Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, notifications)
  • Improve the Platform based on usage patterns
  • Respond to support requests
  • Enforce our Terms of Service

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Information Sharing

3.1 With Other Users

  • Couples can see vendor profiles, media, and pricing
  • Planners assigned to an event can see couple event details
  • Vendors invited to an event can see relevant event information

3.2 With Service Providers

We use trusted third-party services to operate the Platform:

  • All data is stored on AWS servers in the United States (us-east-1 region)
  • Data is transmitted over HTTPS with SSL/TLS encryption
  • Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
  • Access to production systems is restricted and protected by SSH keys and MFA

While we implement industry-standard security measures, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

  • Personal data is removed within 30 days
  • Uploaded files are removed from storage within 30 days
  • Some data may be retained for legal or accounting purposes (e.g., payment records) as required by law

6. Cookies & Sessions

We use cookies and session tokens to:

  • Keep you logged in between visits
  • Maintain your preferences (e.g., dark mode)

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but the Platform will not function properly without them.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your data upon request
  • Withdraw consent at any time (this may affect your ability to use the Platform)

Sparrow is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
